Fly through the galaxy and hear how far radio broadcasts have traveled.
Inspired by the opening of Contact, we made Lightyear.fm to show how far into the galaxy Earth’s radio broadcasts could have traveled. Using WebGL, Three.js, and the Web Audio API, we made a 3D experience that works in the browser and plays clips from over 110 years of Earth’s greatest hits.
